BRODIE’s Nature offer

We help clients navigate the emerging focus on nature, addressing material impacts & dependencies

Though nature as a standalone topic may feel new, our team has a wealth of experience tackling the core issues: water, land use and biodiversity.

We understand that nature can feel daunting to tackle. We support clients to manage the complexity by bringing a pragmatic approach so the most impactful action can be taken.

How we help clients shape, develop and implement their nature strategies

While we tailor each engagement to meet client needs, our core project types include:

Impact assessments to locate and evaluate the most material issues

TNFD-aligned evaluation and prioritisation of impacts and dependencies across value chains
Specific country, commodity or business segment nature impact & dependency assessments, including desk research, stakeholder engagement and targeted HRDD recommendations to respond to risks.

Implementation and disclosure support to proportionately respond to identified impacts and dependencies

Developing deforestation policy and support with implementation to drive lower impacts and ensure compliance with EUDR
Technical advice and delivery support on specific impacts and dependencies, e.g.:
  • Sustainable materials guidance and policies to manage upstream nature impacts through sourcing & design decisions
  • Guidance on best practice standards & frameworks associated with key topics (e.g. freshwater, oceans, deforestation, pesticide use)
  • Advice on interdependencies between nature, climate and human rights strategies
TNFD disclosure benchmarking to ensure that disclosures are aligned with credible frameworks and meet or exceed peer set.

BRODIE’s Nature experience

Take a closer look at two examples of our work

Deforestation free sourcing capability building

BRODIE partnered with Starbucks to provide strategic and technical support to design and implement a global commodity traceability programme across palm, cocoa, dairy and paper. This included working sessions, software selection and implementation support, and supplier engagement guidance. Key outputs included commodity insight papers, deforestation decision tools, and detailed supplier engagement recommendations.

This equipped Starbucks with the capabilities, tools, and expertise to build robust deforestation-free sourcing practices across its global supply chain.

Nature disclosure assessment

BRODIE has been a strategic sustainability partner to Diageo since 2019. Diageo has a strong record of robust, data-driven sustainability work through its “Spirit of Progress” strategy. To provide direction for their future environmental reporting, BRODIE conducted a benchmark of peer nature disclosures, grounded in the TNFD framework, and assessed Diageo’s current performance against this.

The insights from this work helped Diageo enhance its reporting on nature and demonstrate leadership among peers.
